What is the Family & Community Network?

The Family & Community Network is a state funded child and family support program serving families with children between the ages of birth to thirteen (0-13) years old.  The Chelsea/Revere Family & Community Network has been operating since 1998.  The program is composed of five major components:

  • Increase knowledge and access to high-quality early education and care programs for families.
  • Promote family education, engagement and literacy.
  • Facilitate collaboration between local early education and care partners and other community stakeholders.
  • Provide support and information to families with children transitioning between early education and care settings, home and school.
  • Support early education and care programs by facilitating access to technical assistance and training.
What does the Family & Community Network provide?

The Family & Community Network provides universal strength-based education and support programs for families of children aged birth through early school age.  Direct services include:

  • Playgroups for children birth to age five.
  • Capoeria Martial Arts class for children six to thirteen.
  • Fieldtrips
  • Self-development workshops and trainings for parents
  • Parenting education programs and support groups
  • Home Visitation services for families in times of crisis
  • Family Literacy programs and FCN lending library
  • Community Events and Family Celebrations
  • Information and referral services
  • Help providing basic human needs such as clothing and food
Who is eligible to participate?

Families with children birth to thirteen (0-13) who live in Chelsea and Revere are eligible to participate in the program.  We also make exceptions for families with special circumstances that live in Everett, Lynn, Somerville, East Boston and other surrounding neighborhoods.

What is Parent Leadership?

The Family & Community Network offers parents volunteer and other leadership opportunities.  Parents can become leaders by:

  • Co-facilitating a playgroup
  • Participating in Family & Community Network Council meetings
  • Volunteering in the classroom
Where are we located?

The Family & Community Network is located at 67 Crescent Avenue, Chelsea in the CAPIC Head Start building.  Playgroups are located at our Chelsea site and at surrounding sites in Revere.

How to register? What are the hours of operation?

Registration is done at our Chelsea site at 67 Crescent Avenue.  The hours of operation are from 9 am - 5 pm.  All families must fill out a registration form in order to participate in any of the activities of the Family & Community Network.  You must bring in the vaccination records for all children you are enrolling in the program.  Playgroup schedule varies depending on the age of your child.
