What is the Chelsea Family Network?
The Chelsea Family Network is a state funded child and family support program serving families with children from the prenatal stage up to eight (0-8) years old. The Chelsea Family Network has been operating since 1998. The program is based upon these objectives:
  • Act as a community based, information and resource hub for all families in order to increase knowledge of and accessibility to high-quality early education and care programs and services for families with children birth through age eight.
  • Promote family education, engagement and literacy through activities that:
    • Recognize parents as their child’s first teacher;
    • Build on family strengths;
    • Bolster parental leadership;
    • Create parental opportunities for mutual support and social connections; and
    • Build early and family literacy skills
  • Provide access to information and resources that support early education and care and out of school time educators/providers and programs across the public and private sectors in delivering high quality services

What does the Chelsea Family Network provide?
The Chelsea Family Network provides universal strength-based education and support programs for families of children aged birth through early school age. Direct services include:
  • Playgroups for children birth to age eight.
  • Self-development workshops and trainings for parents
  • Parenting education programs and support groups
  • Family Literacy programs with Raising A Reader and FCN lending library
  • Community Events and Family Celebrations
  • Information and referral services
  • Help providing basic human needs such as clothing and food
  • EEC waiting list sign-up

Who is eligible to participate?
Families with children birth to eight (0-8) who live in Chelsea are eligible to participate in the program. (Surrounding towns may apply based upon space) 

What is Parent Leadership?
The Chelsea Family Network offers parents volunteer and other leadership opportunities. Parents can become leaders by:
  • Co-facilitating a playgroup
  • Participating in Family Network Council meetings
  • Volunteering in the classroom

Where are we located?
The Chelsea Family Network is located at 67 Crescent Avenue, Chelsea in the CAPIC Head Start building. Playgroups are located at our Chelsea site.

How to register? What are the hours of operation?
Registration is done at our Chelsea site. All families must fill out a registration form in order to participate in any of the activities of the Chelsea Family Network. You must bring in the vaccination records for all children you are enrolling in the program. Playgroup schedule varies depending on the age of your child.
The hours of operation are from 8 am - 4 pm.
